Metal fabrication is an extremely precise art.
Minute tolerance variations can greatly affect the usability of a part, and at the end of the day, Titan Metal Worx knows that it is up to us to get it right every single time.
Enter our on-staff quality manager who works tirelessly to make sure that all jobs reflect Titan’s impeccable quality standards.
ISO 9001:2008 certification
For starters, we are extremely proud to have this certification, which indicates that we do the following:
- consistently create products that meet customer requirements, as well as any applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Strive to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through ongoing implementation of this system.
The ISO 9001:2008 certification provides a measuring stick for customers looking to identify manufacturing partners within the industry that share their desire for quality workmanship.
Tools of the trade
At Titan Metal Worx, we frequently check tolerances using a variety of tools. These include:
- height gauges
- a state-of-the-art FARO Arm, which provides a quick and effective way to inspect and reverse engineer complex parts and surfaces
“This helps us verify that the part we’re sending to the customer conforms to the print,” Titan’s quality manager said.
A team effort
Although our quality manager is at the helm of our quality department, each and every employee understands that he or she must contribute to the process.
Employees from various departments routinely collaborate with one another. At the start of a project, for example, the quality manager often meets with folks in Titan’s engineering and production departments to closely examine project specs and compare them to our manufacturing capabilities. “We’re working together to get the part exactly where it needs to be,” she said.
Before beginning production, operators run a single piece and verify all dimensions. If everything is correct, they begin the run.
Employees periodically measure for accuracy during the production process, as well, making sure that everything continues to measure as it should. When a project has extremely tight tolerances, Titan Metal Worx employees incorporate more frequent mid-run checks.
Finally, when a job is complete, the Quality Assurance department performs a thorough spot check of the finished product, making sure – once again – that the manufactured part matches paper specs.
“Every individual working on the plant floor is responsible for quality,” says Titan’s quality manager. “We want to exceed the customer's quality expectations, and we want to make sure high-quality products are leaving our facility.”
